10 years ago, I had a good paying job, a home and a decent vehicle to drive. Well, like a lot of other people out there, I fell on hard times when the company I worked for pulled out of Canada and closed the plant here. Never one to sit down and feel sorry for myself, I went back to school to learn a new trade because I had started to have problems with arthritis and degenerative problems in my neck and back. I went to college, got good grades and really worked hard to keep things together. During this time, I cashed in my retirement savings trying to hold onto our home while I went to school. During the last part of my placement, I started to realize that the job wasn't going to be what I had hoped and there wasn't the opportunity available to be hired full time and get the kind of income I had hoped for to sustain my family. Money was running out so, I had to go back to work at something, anything to keep a roof over our heads and hope for the best. Then, 2008 came and everything fell apart. The jobs weren't there, money was getting real tight and I had to borrow out through my backside to keep a roof over our heads. With the bills mounting and facing foreclosure, we had to give up our home. By the time the bank, the lawyers and real estate was done with us, we barely came out with anything in our pockets. Still, I was saddled with a huge debt and trying to make payments on it. I worked 60-65 hours a week for minimum wage just to keep my nose above water but, slowly we kept sinking. In November of 2014 my wife was riving schoolbus when a drunk driver pulled out in front of her and she collided with the vehicle. This gave her a whiplash and concussion. As a result, she has constant ringging in her ears and has not been able to go back to her regular job. Then in January of this year, I was involved in an accident where a lady ran a red light and smashed into my and ruptured me above my seatbelt. As a result, and because I work more than one job to make ends meet, I have lost a lot of income from the job that WSIB does not cover me for because I wasn't employed at that job when the accident occured. (That, and the fact the insurance DOES NOT PAY the full amount of your loss.) I was unable to do the regular duties and have fallen further and further behind because of it while waiting for the corrective surgery. On the 17th of June, I went for surgery to have it repaired but, the last 6 months of not being able to earn as much because of the work limitation of my herniation have taken their toll. I could really use some help until we get back on our feet and found this site. Please, if you can help, I would be forever grateful. I am not used to begging or even asking anyone to help because I have way too much pride for that, but I am desperate and love my family.
