Hi! And thank you for taking the time to hear about my petition for such a worthy cause. My name is Marquita, and my mission is to provide to the Hampton Roads area a fully functioning hot meals truck for the local, lower income families in impoverish neighborhoods. I can not do this on my own, so I ask you, my fellow neighbors, for your generosity.

"There are many available resources around, why should I help you?" You may ask.

Well, I'll tell you!

Recently, I committed to help a local church organization distribute meals to underprivileged youth in the Newport News, Va. area. The church received funding from the government to provide the meals and pay workers to distribute them. My colleague and I noticed how small the numbers were, and being familiar with the area, we decided to take the food into the streets. This was quite successful for a number of weeks until the coordinator of the program refused to allow us to take the food "off site" any longer. We were told they didn't approve of how many meals we gave away and we could go out and promote the church program but couldn't take the food "off sitesite." We were threatened that if we continued, they would shut the program downdown. We were also told that it was the governments rules at prohibited us from taking food to children who desperately needed it, and didn't have the necessary transportation to get to it.

THERE'S SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE!

We had to let down NEIGHBORHOODS full of children.

This sparked my interest into looking for ways to give back to the community while incorporating the community.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

I don't know about you,but I've been hungry, homeless, without help and without hope. Please help today to provide The Food Truck! It means so much more coming from those who actually care.
